Ranger put the tree up with Bear and taught him to sing "Happy Birthday Jesus". And it struck me how simple yet how deep is the nativity story. We celebrate the same story every year but it seems to twist itself somehow to show me something different. This year Ranger wrote a beautiful devotion for Christmas. He shared it with me and I thought it was so powerful and eloquent I'd love to share it here. This is why Christmas is significant for me: "'Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends' John 15:13.

Thanks again for sharing:) Trust is something we need everyday to just go on living, especially since the attacks in Paris (not very far from us). On a brighter note, how's the potty training going? We've been using the potty a long time now, but no major breakthrough... The boy loves his diapers... I'm waiting for the spring and warmer weather to take it to the next level. Baby sister should also be able to sit up by then and I'm hoping sibling rivalry will boost things up!

I hate watching the news these days. Since having kids I feel so much more afraid of these horrible things that happen. It must have been terrible being so close.

Very few French kids are potty-trained before 3 so we're on our own there... My boy goes on the potty several times a day, but still vehemently asks for diapers. He's very proud of his new undies, talks about them and shows them off, but refuses to wear them!

Gosh that’s a confronting image. I feel like I’ve been metaphorically stopped in my tracks. Paralysed. Homeless children on the streets of Paris. I don’t know how to respond to that. This world is broken indeed.
